austerity and working class fight back:
world leaders are ratcheting up austerity measures to solve the worsening global economic crisis. from ireland and england to right here in america. this is at the same time that corporate profits have reached record levels and congress debates how long to extend the tax cuts for the rich. read the articles below and we will discuss what is going on around the world and what people have done to resist it.

An eruption of student anger

Austerity on steroids

The cutback commission

Citing deficit, Obama freezing federal worker pay

Winning the Class War

what to read? what to watch?
we have a couple more meetings this semester. for one of them we voted to show a video and discuss it. we need to decide what video to show. check out the link below to review what videos are out there and think about what makes the most sense for us to watch. we also want to decide what to read over the break. since we have a few weeks off this is a great opportunity for us to read a book and really engage with it. We are proposing that we read revolutionary rehearsals (see link below). If anyone has other ideas, bring them to the meeting and we will vote on it.

CERSC Fund Drive:
We need to make a priority of the CERSC fund drive starting now. The recession means we are going to have work harder to meet the fund drive goal and will need to take advantage of all possible avenues for funding.
