MEETING THIS WEEK ::: NEW TIME & LOCATION

NOTE: We will be moving some of our meetings out to the ongoing Occupy Houston location at Tranquility Park in order to be involved with this exciting and important movement. Our meetings will be moved to 8pm but we will be out there earlier (and encourage others to do the same) to take part in the work groups at 6pm and the general assemblies at 7pm.

Also don't forgot the Soldarity With Oakland/End Police Brutality March and Rally earlier in the day tomorrow!

MEETING THIS WEEK
Wednesday, November 2, 8pm
Location: Occupy Houston @ Tranquility Park

Women and Socialism Ch 2 - 3:
Thirty years have passed since the heyday of the women's liberation struggle, yet women remain second-class citizens. Feminism has shifted steadily rightward since the 1960s. This collection of essays examines these issues from a Marxist perspective, badly needed today.

Women and Socialism locates the source of women's oppression in class society, arguing that only a movement integrating the fight for women's liberation with a struggle against a system that puts profit above human needs can end women's oppression - along with all other forms of inequality.

Join the ISO this week as we will be discussing chapters two and three of Women and Socialism by Sharon Smith.

Even if you have not read you should still come and take part in the discussion. You can buy a copy of the book from us at the meeting or get one from Haymarket books.

About the author:
Sharon Smith is the author of Subterranean Fire: A History of Working-Class Radicalism in the United States, also published by Haymarket books, as well as many articles on women's liberation and the U.S. working class. Her writings appear regularly in Socialist Worker newspaper and the International Socialist Review.
